Arabistan

Arabistan is the name of a proposal for an unrealized country in the Persian Gulf formed by a conglomerate of Arab states.Building off the name used for proposals for Ahwaz, Arabistan was relaunched by independent consultants as a non-racial non-religious apolitical country whose goal is to serve its primary stakeholder nations (which consist of Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar).HistoryArabistan was conceived prior to 2007 by Arab nationalists in Iran seeking an independent Khuzestan. The name would be reused in September 2007 as part of a bid for a new LLC to consolidate the extensive properties of oil companies across the Gulf. Although the proposal for the joint-venture was ultimately rejected,it would be again re-envisioned in 2011, after the events of the Arab Spring, as a political entity capable of administering various territories for the political and social stability of its constituent countries. Thus Arabistan was proposed, with an initial holdings of nine islands and territories, as the world’s first ‘floating’ country.The archipelago of Arabistan according to current estimation will enter its alpha phase in the winter of 2016, with an estimated population of five thousand. The current islands of Arabistan will provide the space for Saudi Arabia’s (and the world’s) first all-women highway, a museum of National Movements in the gulf, and other innovative introductions. Ultimately, the vision behind Arabistan is to provide for a new means of managing and providing territory to current needs that cannot be met within the current nation-state framework of the Gulf. As a floating nation-state Arabistan is flexible, agile, and aimed towards resolving the long-standing problems of its primary stake-holding countries
